The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the leadership of Tanimu Turaki held a strategic meeting on Friday with Nigeria’s former president Goodluck Jonathan.

The meeting happened as a result of the ongoing speculation over the former president’s interest in the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting was hosted just less than 2 days after the former president mentioned that he was making consultation across the board to know if he would be contesting again for president next year.

The revelation was made on Thursday in his office at the Federal Capital Territory to encourage him to contest for the presidency again after only one term in office.

In his response, Jonathan says the intent to contest for the position of President was “not a computer game” and needed serious consultations before a final decision could be taken

This recent update has further increased political conversation around the 2027 politics and the possibility of Goodluck Jonathan returning to active politics after he lost the presidency position to Late Muhammad Buhari in 2015 ahead of the coming general election taking place next year.
