
Mustapha Sule Lamido has been confirmed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as its only gubernatorial candidate to contest in the Jigawa State gubernatorial election coming up in 2027.
Isah Ahmad, who is the chairman of the primary election committee, mentioned that Mustapha Sule Lamido’s emergence came as a result of a consensus process.
Ahmad also said that the consensus process totally aligns with PDP’s legal provisions and constitution. He also said that the primary election was done before security agencies and the staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He further appreciated the members of PDP who ensured that there was peace and unity throughout the primary.
Lamido in his address to the crowd thanked that party’s stakeholders for the rare chance given to him and promised to focus on youth employment, improved healthcare, economic growth, and education reform.
The governorship candidate mentioned that he will rebuild the state via social development, unity, and responsible leadership, while raising concerns over challenges in the healthcare sector, economic hardship, and declining education standards.
