Multiple sources have confirmed that Michael Carrick has emerged as the favorite person to take over as Manchester United’s caretaker head coach.
Officials at the Red Devils are working hard to ensure that they achieve an appointment before the players proceed for training on Wednesday, as discussions with the 44-year-old sportsman are understood to be at a mature level, though a final decision is yet to be made.
Carrick had earlier served as the interim coach of the club in 2021 after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in charge of three games in which he achieved two victories and a draw before he left after the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.
Sources say Michael Carrick has strong backup within the current team as well as backing from the Ineos leadership of football operations at Old Trafford.
It was mentioned that Solskjaer had a face-to-face conversation with Manchester United about a likely return after Ruben Amorim was fired earlier this month.
