Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has equalled Colombian professional footballer Zapata’s UEFA Champions League history for Atlanta after he scored and made an assist during their second game in the competition on Wednesday night against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The team secured three points after it scored three goals against its opponent that had no goal.
Lookman created the first assist that led to the team’s first goal scored by Berat Djimsiti in the 21 minutes of the game. He also scored the second goal that increased Atalanta’s win just before the end of the first half.
After the match, the 26-year-old Nigerian star becomes the second Atlanta’s player ever to score and provide an assist in just one match of the UEFA Champions League. Zapata had accomplished this feat twice during his time with the Bergamo-based club.
Zapata is the first player to have recorded the same feat twice when he was in the club.
The 33-year-old player first achieved the record against FC Midtjylland of Denmark in October 2020. Zapata replicated the performance against Manchester United in November 2021.
