Folarin Balogun scored his first goal in the Champions League to earn Monaco a 1-0 win against Bodo/Glimt, making it their first victory since the competition started this season.

Monaco, which had earlier drawn a tough match against two English sides, Manchester City and Tottenham, dominated the game against Bodo from the start, but found. Still, they tried to break down their opponent’s defence.

An effort by Takumi Minamino was blocked before Folarin Balogun netted a brilliance for Monaco in the 43rd minute, a few minutes before the end of the first half, as he converted a pass from Maghnes Akliouche and fired it against Nikita Haikin.

Bodo/Glimt pushed for an equalizer after the break, with Jens Petter Hauge and Kasper Høgh going close, but goalkeeper Philipp Kohn denied them.

Bodo/Glimt were not deterred from making an effort despite the 0-1 deficit. Jens Petter Hauge and Kasper Høgh created brilliant chances, but they were denied through key saves by goalkeeper Philipp Kohn.

Bodo’s hope for an equalisation was dashed after Jostein Gundersen, who came in as a substitute, received a red card after VAR showed he had made a rough tackle.

The result pushed AS Monaco up the Champions League standings, while Bodo’s woes continue, losing four of their four games. Bodo/Glimt will be hosting Juventus on 25 November, and AS Monaco will be travelling on 26 November to play against Pafos FC.
