Ivory Coast earned a return to the World Cup after a 12-year absence with a 3-0 destruction of Kenya in the last game of the African 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
This win means that the Ivory Coast team, also known as the “Elephants,” will secure their place in the 2026 World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Ivory Coast took a total dominance from the beginning of the game, earning their first goal just seven minutes after the starting whistle was blown through a goal by Franck Kessié, who brilliantly converted an assist by Amad Diallo into Kenya’s net.
The Elephants did not allow Kenya to put any pressure on them as they displayed attacking prowess and discipline throughout the game. Their second goal was netted through Nicolas Pépé in the second half, through a defensive error by the Kenyan side.
Amad Diallo’s goal sealed the Elephants’ victory to make it 3-0. The flawless display exhibited by the Ivory Coast, courtesy of the creativity of Amad Diallo and the leadership skills of Franck Kessié, made for a smooth World Cup qualifier.
This win secures their place in the next year’s tournament alongside a very strong side on the continent, Senegal, where they hoped to represent Africa with a good football display on the global stage.
