Ecuador shares a 1-1 draw game on Tuesday night against Mexico in a friendly game to prepare both sides for next year’s FIFA World Cup.
The first goal of the match was scored just three minutes after the referee declared the match open by Germán Berterame of Mexico, but Ecuador could not wait till the second half at the 20th minute before they made it a draw after Ordy Alcívar hit Mexico’s net from the penalty spot.
This draw makes it Mexico’s fourth winless streak, fueling their worries as the World Cup approaches despite hosting duties for the big competition alongside Canada and the United States.
The question of how Mexico’s preparation towards the next World Cup continues to resurface after they lost 4-0 last Saturday to Colombia and have yet to get a win since July 6, when they thrashed an alternate U.S. team in the Gold Cup.
The team’s focus will now be on their next game in November against another strong side, Uruguay. Ecuador also came second in their group stage behind Argentina in the South American World Cup qualifier and had a 1-1 draw in their previous friendly game against the United States Men’s National Team.
