Nigeria’s top striker, Victor Osimhen, on Tuesday night, did an outstanding performance by scoring a hat-trick in the Super Eagles’ shocking 4-0 win against the Benin Republic in their FIFA World Cup qualifying game.
Osimhen, who plays forward for his club, Galatasaray, fired the first goal of the match in only the 3rd minute after the starting whistle through a beautiful assist from Premier League club Fulham’s Samuel Chukwueze.
34 minutes after the first goal, Osimhen netted another to make it a double, courtesy of another assist from Samuel Chukwueze. The Galatasaray talisman completed his hat-trick in the second half by converting a defensive error from the Republic of Benin into an advantage.
Frank Onyeka, who came in as a substitute in the second half, helped Nigeria to seal a saving win by scoring the country’s much-needed fourth goal.
These four goals are what Nigeria’s team needed to qualify for the playoffs of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
On the other side, the South Africa team defeated Rwanda in a commanding 3-0 game, which keeps the team in the top position of their group stage and grants them an automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
