The suspected person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk has been identified and arrested. His name is Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old young man living in Utah. Tyler Robinson’s apprehension was also confirmed by Utah’s state Governor, Spencer Cox.
Tyler has been taken into custody after his father, Matt, a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, contacted a family friend, who then contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and told them that he (Tyler) confessed to the crime to his dad.
Tyler’s father then secured him before he was taken away on Thursday night, around 10 pm. The father had also recognized his son from the photos released by investigators.
Tyler’s mother was identified as Amber Robinson, who works for Intermountain Support Coordination Services, Utah – an agency contracted by the state to help disabled people.
Tyler Robinson himself is the eldest of the three children (all males) of his parents and was a student of Utah State University for only one semester in 2021. The family lives in Washington, Utah, in a home valued at around $600,000 and located about 260 miles away from where Charlie Kirk was killed.
Investigators, following his arrest, have questioned his family and roommate. A family member said he had become more political in recent years and was “full of hate and spreading hate”, when he started a conversation about Charlie Kirk coming to their state.
His roommate provided messages from Discord, a messaging platform, where Tyler had discussed getting a rifle that has a scope mounted on it from a “drop point”, which has been wrapped in a towel and left in a bush. No other information has been obtained about his Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and other social media profiles.
The firearm, believed to be the rifle that he used to shoot and kill Charlie Kirk, from about 200 yards away, while lying on a rooftop, was also recovered in a bushy area. Some inscriptions were also written on some of the gun’s casing which read: “hey fascist! Catch!”, “oh bella ciao” and “If you read this, you are gay, LMAO”.
The school dropout came into the university in a Dodge Challenger and easily blended with the students because of his young appearance.
Tyler Robinson’s apprehension will hopefully put an end to the federal manhunt. It will also put an end to Skye Valadez, the transgender person who trended online as the suspected Killer of Charlie Kirk.
Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck on video during an appearance in Utah. So far, investigators have received over 11,000 tips from the public and interviewed about 200 people after putting a bounty of $100,000 on the killer.
