Verizon, in its statement had mentioned that a widespread outage caused disruption to voice services and cellular data for customers across the U.S.

Verizon, which stands as the United States’ largest wireless carrier, reported the issue after customers took to their social media platforms to report that their phones were showing no signal or “SOS.”

The wireless carrier company also included in their statement that its engineers were actively working to determine the cause of the outage and also resolve it as fast as they could.

The issue became noticeable around noon ET, as reported online. The company currently boasts customers exceeding 146 million.

Two hours after the problem was first noticed, Verizon returned to its social media page to share an update that its teams were working actively to ensure that service returned to normal, but they did not mention the exact time that the service would be restored.

Other users first suspected issues were happening to T-Mobile and AT&T, but the carriers responded to say that their networks had not been interrupted.

Emergency officials who are situated in New York City and Washington, D.C., also noticed the outage as they work to monitor and measure likely impacts.
