Verizon, in its statement had mentioned that a widespread outage caused disruption to voice services and cellular data for customers across the U.S.
Verizon, which stands as the United States’ largest wireless carrier, also owned the issue after customers took to their social media platforms to report that their phones were showing no signal or “SOS.”
The wireless carrier company also included that its engineers were actively working to know the cause of the outage and also resolve it as fast as they can.
The issue became noticeable around noon ET, as reported online. The company currently boasts customers exceeding 146 million.
Two hours after the problem was first noticed, Verizon returned to their social media page to share an update that their teams were working actively to ensure that service returned back to normal, but they did not mention the exact time that the service will be restored.
Other users first suspected issues were happening to T-Mobile and AT&T, but the carriers responded to say that their networks had not been interrupted.
Emergency officials who are situated in New York City and Washington, D.C., also noticed the outage as they work to monitor and measure likely impacts.
