Claressa Shields Beats Lani Daniels To Retain Heavyweight Title And Maintain Unbeaten Run

Heavyweight champion Claressa Shields absolutely dominated in her match against the smart Lani Daniels to extend her winning streak (17-0) and retain her title on Saturday.

The Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, was full for the event. As usual, Shields made a statement with her entrance and seemed ready to walk through Daniels. However, she also knew her opponent was tricky.

The match started with the two women trying to get their punches to hit; however, they only recorded two landed punches for two minutes. Shields had never had that kind of match before.

After the first few minutes, the match became a game, with both women throwing punches and coordinated attacks. Shields threw more punches and made certain moves to push her opponent to make mistakes.

The undisputed Heavyweight champion also fired more body shots, punching Daniels in the mid-section to weaken her rather than going for her head.

As the fight went on, Daniels could no longer move around freely. She was weak, so she just stood in one place and threw all her attacks at the champion.

Claressa threw more punches to her opponent’s mid-section, temple, and even her head, and Daniel absorbed them. You wonder why she did not go down after absorbing all those punches.

Towards the end of the bout, Daniels got her groove back, sending more punches to Shields, who also struck back.

After the match, the judges favored the undisputed Heavyweight champion with 200-90, 99-91, 99-91 decision, and Claressa extended her unbeaten run and retained her title.
