The New York Mets have immediately bounced back after they lost out on Kyle Tucker, as they agreed to a three-year, $126 million deal with infielder Bo Bichette, awaiting a physical.

The contract involves the opportunity to leave after each of the first two seasons and no deferred fee, with a total of $42 million yearly worth.

This new deal moves the team’s hopeful payroll to $345.7 million, which moves above the top competitive balance tax threshold.

Bo Bichette had earlier rejected a qualifying request from Toronto, costing the Mets draft picks and international bonus money while it helps the Blue Jays with a compensatory pick.

Bichette was pursued just for his bat and was scheduled to play third base despite the fact that his defensive reputation is not enough.

Bichette is a two-time All-Star, and he has a .294 career average and will likely hit third coming behind Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, providing the Mets with much-needed offensive encouragement.
