Jordan Larsson fired a late goal to salvage struggling FC Copenhagen as Napoli was held to a 1–1 draw in a Champions League game on Tuesday by the host, which was already reduced to 10 men after a red card.
Napoli took the dominance in the first half and scored the first goal of the game in the 39th minute after a powerful free header from Scott McTominay from a corner hit FC Copenhagen’s net.
The goal came a few minutes after Thomas Delaney was shown a red card when he made a reckless attack on Stanislav Lobotka, reducing the team to 10 men.
Despite being reduced to 10 men, Copenhagen increased their pressure in the second half as they frustrated Napoli with strong defense and quick transitions.
Their effort didn’t go to waste as opportunity shone on them in the 71st minute when Mohamed Elyounoussi was brought down by Alessandro Buongiorno inside the box.
Jordan Larsson’s attempt to convert a penalty into a goal was saved by Napoli’s goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. Not long after, Larsson reacted fastest as he converted the rebound to a goal to earn a tie.
The late equalizer denied Napoli three points as the two teams went away with a point each, capping a motivated outcome of determination and resilience from Copenhagen.
