South Carolina which stands as the defending champions made a comeback from a 12-4 deficit to beat Texas 74-57 in the Final Four. South Carolina stood strong by displaying balanced scoring, with 10 players making an impact.
Te-Hina Paopao, a senior guard led the game with 14 points, while Joyce Edwards, a freshman contributed 13 off the bench.
In a defensive manner, the winner brought down the Longhorns, holding them to 39.3% shooting and causing 14 turnovers. Madison Booker, who came in with enough energy was reduced to 11 points.
Connecticut did not forgive UCLA as they trashed the latter 85-51 in the second semi-final. The Huskies were tight on their defense which consumed the Bruins, who turned the ball over 19 times and hit only 38.5%.
Lauren Betts helped UCLA to record 26 goals, but Connecticut did a great offensive. Azzi Fudd contributed 19, Freshman Sarah Strong posted 22 points, and Paige Bueckers put in 16.
This championship game is another opportunity for the last face-off of the 2022 final, where South Carolina thrashed UConn. The Huskies are on a mission to record their first title since 2016, while South Carolina hopes to win the title for the fourth time under Manager Dawn Staley.
