Graham Potter has every reason to jubilate after winning his first home match 3-2 against Fulham as head coach since he joined West Ham United.
West Ham United earned its victory through goals from Carlos Soler, Tomas Soucek, and Lucas Paqueta, which gives the new coach his first Premier League win since he replaced the former manager, Julen Lopetegui.
Potter got his tactics right despite training just three times with the squad. Fulham’s poor defence and errors from goalkeeper Bernd Leno led to their fall against the Graham Potter boys.
West Ham earlier struggled to make a win, but the game changed when Soler took advantage of Fulham’s defensive error by shooting into an open post. Soucek later scored a second goal to double the lead.
Fulham got it back in the second half after an attempt by Raul Jimenez deflected into the net. Soon after, West Ham converted an opportunity from a mistake committed by Leno into West Ham’s third goal.
A dramatic scene was created during the end of the match as Fulham scored another goal to close the gap, but West Ham kept on with the pressure, with a brilliant scoreline clearance that sealed West Ham’s victory and secured Potter a good start in the league.
