The husband of Sheinelle Jones, a popular co-host of the TODAY Show, Uche Ojeh, has died at the age of 45 after an effort battling brain cancer.

“With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and TODAY co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,” Savannah Guthrie said on TODAY, May 23.

“There are no words for the pain we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children. Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him. And so we want to take a moment to tell you more about the remarkable man who was Sheinelle’s perfect partner in life.”

Sheinelle Jones and her husband, Uche Ojeh, were married for 17 years, as their love story started at Northwestern University in the late 1990s.

Sheinelle Jones, who was new to Northwestern University at that time, met Uche Ojeh while showing him around the school’s premises as a senior colleague in high school. Not later than eight years after that, he proposed to go to the same university where they started their love life.

They got married in Sheinelle’s hometown, Philadelphia, in 2007, and proceeded to raise three children together: Kayin, born in 2009, and twins Uche and Clara, born in 2012.

Uche was very rooted in his Nigerian heritage, family, and faith, which he passed on to his three children. He sang very well in the church choir and loved to play football.

Sheinelle Jones and Uche were very much devoted to each other, which was evident in their mutual support. Sheinelle was once seen cheering on her husband at his triathlon to Uche, waiting proudly at the NYC Marathon finish line.

The staff of TODAY hailed Uche, calling him a devoted husband, a cherished soul, and a loving father.
