Mohamed Salah netted his 50th European goal for Liverpool as they moved to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League with a 2-1 victory at Anfield against Lille.

This goal made it the Egyptian talisman’s 22nd goal of the season, with a brilliant finish in the 34th minute displaying his good form. Lille equalized through a goal by Jonathan David despite being reduced to 10 men after a red card was shown to Aissa Mandi.

Liverpool kept on with pressure as a deflected shot from Harvey Elliott in the 67th minute cemented the win for them, making it a perfect record for the team after winning their seven matches in the competition this season.

The defeat put a stop to Lille’s 21-match defeatless run, leaving them in the 11th position ahead of their last Champions League game at Feyenoord.

Liverpool now needs just one point in their last group game against PSV Eindhoven to earn the top spot while they stand above Barcelona in second place with a three-point difference.
