Ronnie Killings, who is otherwise known by his fans as R-Truth, mentioned on Sunday that he has been released by WWE. This announcement has sent waves of shock to both fans and industry insiders.
He started his professional wrestling career in the early 2000s. R-Truth’s career has spanned decades, highlighted by main event clashes with names like John Cena and multiple championship reigns.
Just last Saturday, he competed against Cena in the main event, and days later, he suffered a loss to J.C. Matteo on SmackDown, the final WWE match he featured.
The abrupt release sent shockwaves through the wrestling world. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported that the decision caught everyone off guard. WWE Hall of Famer and executive Brian ‘Road Dogg’ Armstrong echoed that sentiment.
“I am heartbroken,” he wrote on X.. “It’s the part of the business that no one likes but the bean counters. I love Ron the Truth Killings… what a run.”
Tributes poured in. Rhea Ripley called it “literally so heartbreaking.” He was hailed and described by Ricochet as “an amazing talent and an even better person.”
Cathy Kelley, an American journalist and presenter, joined those who sent their tributes: “One of my favourite and most supportive people I’ve ever worked with. Gonna miss you so much, Truthy.”
Despite his exits from WWE, his impact will remain forever.
