Frances Tiafoe gave his best on Tuesday during the French Open quarterfinals game against Lorenzo Musetti, but ultimately lost 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 to him after a difficult start.
Tiafoe battled to achieve accuracy in the beginning of the game, racking up 13 unforced mistakes in the first set, which was easily won by Musetti. Frances Tiafoe, an American, bounced back in the second set by taking advantage of the mistakes committed by Musetti to win 6-4.
The third set was a difficult one, as both players were evenly matched and traded points, but Musetti ended up winning the set 7-5.
The win pushed Musetti to the first-ever semifinal of a Grand Slam that he will feature, his deepest streak at Roland Garros after previously reaching only the fourth round.
Musetti will be waiting to know who he will face in the semifinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Tommy Paul, depending on who wins the quarterfinals between the two of them. The semifinal will be played on Friday.
Frances Tiafoe will be exiting the tournament due to this loss. He started the tournament very well but lacked consistency.
