Joan García Shines In Espanyol Draw Against Leganés

Joan García’s outstanding performance saved Espanyol from losing three points to Leganés after a 1-1 draw on Saturday through many needed saves.

Leandro Cabrera, who plays defense for Espanyol, helped the team earn an early lead after he headed into the net a corner from Alex Kral just two minutes after the game started.

Espanyol, which had earned the early lead, could not outdo Leganés easily, coupled with their recent defeat to Barcelona. But the efforts by Garcia proved very important as he was able to create at least four saves in the second half alone.

The goalkeeper’s outstanding moments include not allowing Miguel de la Fuente and Juan Cruz in quick succession after Yvan Neyou hit the crossbar.

Garcia, who was earlier linked with Arsenal after Spain’s Olympic gold, was not happy with the draw against Leganes, especially because the two teams are battling not to be relegated after they were promoted to the La Liga side last season.

Espanyol now sits in the 18th position in the La Liga table, while Valencia’s late draw against Sevilla put them at the bottom of the league table, four points from safety.
