Brentford earned their first away win this season in the Premier League in a remarkable manner, which led to a 5-0 victory at St. Mary’s against Southampton.
The five goals were scored by Southampton’s key players, including Bryan Mbeumo, who netted two goals, Kevin Schade, Keane Lewis-Potter, and Yoane Wissa, who each scored one goal, which put a stop to 10 away matches winless, with their last away win dating back to May 11, 2024.
Brentford scored the first goal after a fine pass from Mikkel Damsgaard to Schade six minutes after the match started.
Brentford took possession, dominating the match despite missing further opportunities in the first half while Southampton could not do enough to resist them.
Brentford did the tearing of Southampton in the second half with a good shot from Mbeumo and a penalty kick that extended the score to 3-0 after a foul was committed by Lesley Ugochukwu in the box. Late goals from Lewis-Potter and Wissa sealed Brentford’s 5-0 victory against Southampton.
The win put Brentford in a celebratory mood after winning their first away win in a long time while they continue to secure a good place for themselves in the ongoing league campaign.
The defeat also leaves Southampton in the relegation area with 10 points from safety while the head coach, Ivan Juric, still hopes to get a first victory after three games.
