Emily Calandrelli, a female engineer working with Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin was amazed and short of words by the view of Earth outside the windows of their spaceship, but online comment likened her voice to sexual moans. Watch her video below:
Calandrelli became the 100th woman to fly to space but her joy was cut short by comments that wondered if she was having a sexual experience.
She revealed the comments really hurt her and left her crying and looking out the window, and said that she was only responding to “the most perfect, wonderful dream-achieving experience” of her life.
She confessed she had to feminize herself after the outworldly experience left her in tears because of “small men on the internet”.
Online comments suggested that listening to how she sounded was kind of erotic. Librcat said she sound like she was in a space prono, likely referring to porno and McHeartAttack said she was orgasming on the video and blamed Blue Origin for releasing it.
A good number of the comments were not concerned about the sexist comments but wondered why a woman of her caliber would be concerned about such a trivial matter.
Citizen Caller recalled that space travel used to be reserved for the best of mind and body, Brosa Parks focused on social media addiction and wondered why she would be checking her Instagram post and reading the comments while she was out of space, a journey Jaunita referred to as the most amazing one can ever take in a lifetime.
Christopher Fishnell opined that even the post she made where she had herself crying was still done for social media engagements, and John Gabbard likened her weak mental state to Neil Armstrong, the first person to allegedly walk on the moon, acting like her because of people’s comments.
