Watch Turkish Military Plane Disintegrates Midair Crashes

A military cargo plane that was en route from Azerbaijan’s Ganja International Airport (GNJ) to Turkey disintegrated mid-flight and crashed close to the Azerbaijan-Georgia border.

The air mishap happened on Tuesday to a Turkish Air Force Lockheed C-130E Hercules cargo aircraft that was carrying 20 military personnel. The number of crew members has not been confirmed at this time.

According to Flightradar24, all the passengers in the doomed aircraft were reported dead, while an investigation has been started to unravel the cause of the crash.

Footage of the crash, which has been circulating on social media, shows two large parts of the plane, including the mid passenger section that had both wings, spiralling as it came down in the countryside. Video below:

The crash was confirmed by both the Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and its Defence Minister, Yaşar Güle, and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, with both countries reporting giving updates on getting to the crash site.

“May God rest the soul of our martyrs”, Erdoğan said, while reporting the crash.

The United States-based aircraft manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, which makes the military transport plane, also gave its condolences and said they were open to corporate in the crash investigation.
