Tottenham made a record of being the first team to defeat Everton in its new stadium after Micky van de Ven scored two headers on Sunday in a Premier League game.
Tottenham did not put pressure in the beginning of the game, but was lucky to earn a goal after the 19th minute, which started the game when Micky van de Ven fired a header into Everton’s net after a corner.
Everton earned a goal, which could have made it a draw, but Jake O’Brien’s header was cancelled due to a foul committed against Guglielmo Vicario.
The Netherlands international defender fired a second goal before the end of the first 45 minutes after he headed another corner into Everton’s net to give Tottenham a 2-0 lead.
Everton increased their pressure after the second half started, but all attempts for goals were prevented by Vicario, earning the team a clean sheet. The last goal was scored by Pape Matar Sarr, who came into the game as a substitute with a late header that gave Ange Postecoglou’s team a comfortable win.
The win pushed Tottenham to third place in a table of 20 teams with a total of 17 points acquired from nine games, while Everton has only 11 points, pushing them to 14th.
