French talisman Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham’s goals fired up Real Madrid and earned the team a 2-1 win against Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu in a tough El Clásico match. The win ends a four-game losing streak against the Catalonian giant and adds three points to the La Liga progress.
Mbappe netted the first goal of the match after he brilliantly linked up with Bellingham. Mbappe later missed a penalty, which could have been Madrid’s deciding goal that was awarded against Barcelona.
Former Manchester United player Marcus Rashford, who has now become one of Barcelona’s major players, fired a cross, which Fermin Lopez brilliantly converted to a goal to make it a draw before Bellingham returned Real Madrid to victory with a finish from not-too-far distance.
The Barcelona squad, which travelled to Madrid, invested a lot of effort that earned them few opportunities despite having more game possession, but the other team’s goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, made key saves that preserved Madrid’s win.
Pressure increased on Barcelona, and frustration went up, resulting in playmaker Pedri being shown a red card for a second yellow card.
The victory gives Madrid 27 points total from 10 matches, five above the second-placed Barcelona squad, who were assisted to the Santiago Bernabeu by assistant coach Marcus, who took the place of Hansi Flick.
