The USA battled to a 2-1 comeback victory over Australia at Dick’s Sporting Goods Stadium, though captain Christian Pulisic’s early injury cast a shadow over the win.
The Men’s National Team of the USA pulled off an amazing 2-1 comeback win at Dick’s Sporting Goods Stadium against Australia. The team secured their win despite their skipper, Christian Pulisic, sustaining an early injury.
Christian Pulisic, who plays for AC Milan, was forced to exit the pitch in the 27th minute after different challenges, which caused him to miss the better part of the game.
The first goal of the night was scored by a defender of Feyenoord, Jordy Bos, for Australia, who fired a brilliant opportunity into the USA’s net.
Diego Luna, who came in as a substitute for the USA, created a brilliant opportunity that caused a pass from Cristian Roldan to Haji Wright for the European qualifier.
Haji Wright later doubled his side’s lead in the second half, cutting inside before firing into Australia’s net after passing Mat Ryan. While the guest did all they could and Bos made a brilliant play, the efforts could not get Australia an equaliser.
The win for the USA ended their winless streak and boosted the squad of already under-pressure coach Mauricio Pochettino against the coming 2026 World Cup.
