Bruno Guimaraes scored a dramatic last-minute winner in the 90th minute, helping Newcastle United squeeze past Fulham with a 2-1 victory in a tense Premier League match at St. James’ Park.
The game was tight, with both teams just a point apart in the standings, and it showed in the evenly matched nature of the contest.
Newcastle came out strong, hitting the post twice early on, and it wasn’t until the 18th minute that Jacob Murphy finally broke the deadlock with a well-placed finish after a quick, sharp attack.
Fulham did a strong comeback as soon as the second half started, and bringing Kevin on really boosted their front line. They finally had a goal in the 56th minute after Sasa Lukic jumped high and scored with a header to make it a draw.
Newcastle threw everything forward, hoping to score a winning goal as the game neared the end. Guimaraes, Anthony Elanga, and Sandro Tonali all had good chances, but in stoppage time, it was the captain who made the final effect and snatched the win for his side.
William Osula’s shot was stopped, but Guimaraes was quickest to react. He calmly tapped the ball into the net from just a few yards out, sparking wild cheers from the home fans.
That win moves Newcastle up to 11th place with 12 points. Meanwhile, Fulham stays in 16th, still just three points clear of the relegation zone.
