The family of late boxing icon Arturo Gatti has been thrown into mourning as tragedy befell them after his 17-year-old son, Arturo Gatti Jr., was found dead in Mexico on Monday, where he lived with Amanda Rodrigues, his mother.

The reason behind the death of the young aspiring boxer, Gatti Jr., is unknown. He looked forward to honoring the legacy of his father and had made himself popular and loved by many through his dedication and skill, training alongside boxing icons such as Mike Tyson.

Arturo Gatti, the youngster’s father, who in his lifetime was a two-division world champion, passed away under unknown circumstances in Brazil in 2009.

The circumstance was later ruled as suicide by hanging, a claim that his family and friends rejected.

Rodrigues was earlier arrested as the suspect in his death, but she was later let off and given Gatti’s estate. The senior Gatti was popular for his legendary trilogy and his thrilling bouts with Micky Ward.

The late boxer was inducted in 2013 into the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

The death of the 17-year-old Gatti has returned grief for a family that has long been marked by pain.
