Bryan Kohberger Takes Plea Deal In Idaho Student Murders As Family Gets Furious

The man accused of killing four students at the University of Idaho in November 2022, Bryan Kohberger, is reported to have accepted a plea deal, according to a report published by NewsNation.

Prosecutors stated that they will drop the death penalty in exchange for his guilty plea to a burglary charge and murder.

Among the conditions are that Bryan Kohberger must waive his right to appeal and serve life in prison without the possibility of parole. A court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday to formally change the plea.

The plea deal has sparked outrage among the victims’ families, especially the family of Goncalves, who called the deal by the State of Idaho a betrayal.

The family, expressing their anger at the plea deal, said they were taken by surprise, having rejected an earlier offer of a plea deal just days before.

Those who had committed to staying in Boise during the trial now find themselves without answers to their questions. One key question is whether the accused will fully admit to killing the students.

The families continue to seek clarity and justice.
