Tottenham performed outstandingly as they took a step forward to the final of the Europa League on Thursday after beating Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt 3-1.
Tottenham took the bold step from the first minute of the match with the opening goal just 38 seconds after the commencement of the game from Brennan Johnson at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Just before the end of the first half, Ange Postecoglou’s side took a bold lead with a second goal from James Maddison.
The victory for Tottenham was sealed by the last goal from Dominic Solanke, who converted a penalty into a goal. The game did not end without a goal from their opponents, Bodo/Glimt, through Ulrik Saltnes. Bodo/Glimt hopes to perform better in the return leg on May 8.
It is not yet just smooth sailing for Postecoglou, whose job is still under scrutiny despite the win, as concerns have been raised about injuries sustained by Solanke and Maddison.
Tottenham currently sits in the 16th position in the Premier League table and last played trophy winners Liverpool, who defeated them 5-1. Tottenham last won a European trophy in 1984.
If Tottenham wins on aggregate in the second leg on May 8, the team will face either Athletic Bilbao or another English team, Manchester United, in the final on May 21.
Manchester United also recorded a 3-0 win in their first leg against Athletic Bilbao. The final could be between two Premier League sides, a neutral ground for two struggling England sides hoping to redeem their loss with a European title.
