Kylian Mbappe has been able to secure for himself the European Golden Shoe after netting two goals in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory against Real Sociedad.
The win marks the farewell of head coach Carlo Ancelotti and midfielder Luka Modric at Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
Ancelotti will be heading the coaching team of Brazil’s National team after helping Real Madrid to lift 15 trophies across six years
Modric received a guard of honour during his last game for Real Madrid, while he will still play in the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid shows their appreciation to the duo by raising banners and chanting to commend them for their loyalty to the club. Mbappe, who missed an early chance at converting a penalty into a goal, did not miss the rebound to achieve his 30th league goal and later made it 31st through an assist from Vinicius Junior.
The win witnessed Brahim Diaz and Lucas Vazquez also leave to warm ovations, while Madrid ended the season with no trophy in La Liga, coming behind Barcelona, which won the league.
Mohammed Salah is still in the race to win the Golden Shoe if he scores four goals against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
