Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, IWC Schaffhausen brought together Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff and driver George Russell alongside stars from the movie production of the upcoming movieF1, actresses Kerry Condon and Simone Ashley, and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
Together, the fictional and real worlds of Formula 1 collided for the first time ever as they provided behind-the-scenes insights into the production of the film and how the adrenaline-fueled world of F1 was authentically captured during the greatest F1 film ever made.
George Russell commented on his surprise podium moment with F1 movie star Brad Pitt and his expectations ahead of this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
F1 movie stars Kerry Condon and Simone Ashley, along with producer Jerry Bruckheimer, commented on their excitement about shooting the movie at the actual Grand Prix
Mercedes AMG Petronas team principal Toto Wolff also commented on his excitement for the forthcoming movie and its authenticity to the sport.
The ambitious movie project captures Formula 1 like never before, taking cinematic engineering to another level. Set against the backdrop of actual Grand Prix™ races, the film crew traveled alongside the real FORMULA 1 teams for two years.
Collaborating with the Movie, F1, IWC Schaffhausen are the official sponsor of ‘APXGP’, the 11th fictional team on the grid in the film – extending the brand’s ties from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One™ team to the big screen.
IWC designed an exclusive APXGP collection and fitted the whole team with watches for the movie, worn by actors Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, and Kerry Condon’s characters and team members, such as mechanics and engineers. The limited-edition Ingenieur Automatic 40 features a green dial and is derived from a prop watch worn by Brad Pitt’s character Sonny Hayes in the film.
As part of a major moment celebrating IWC Schaffhausen’s sponsorship, guests in attendance also had the opportunity to explore the APXGP watch collection inspired by the movie.
