The hope of Aston Villa of clinching the UEFA Champions League was shattered despite emerging victory and recording a 3-2 win against French side, PSG at Villa Park.

The English side, coming 5-1 behind on aggregate, made an amazing comeback after that, scoring three goals and putting PSG off formation, but lost it to force extra time.

PSG started the game very well against the opposition, recording the first goal through Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes after nice counter-attacks. Not long later, Villa responded with an amazing goal.

Youri Tielemans netted the first goal for the English team. Another goal came through a deflected shot by John McGinn, while Ezri Konsa scored the third goal that boosted Villa’s hopes.

It was really a nice night for Aston Villa in their home as they refused to give up. The trio of Marcus Rashford, McGinn, inspirational, and Tielemans performed exceedingly, proving that the English side is a strong team.

A brilliant performance from Gianluigi Donnarumma was the reason that Aston Villa could not record a fourth goal as he saved an attempt from Marco Asensio, who joined Aston Villa from PSG on a loan contract.

The win was not enough to push Aston Villa to the next phase of the competition, but they exited after matching and defeating a strong European team over 90 minutes.

This season has broken the jinx of Aston Villa competing in the UEFA Champions League 42 years ago and their last night in the competition was not without an outstanding performance.
