A veteran Hall of Fame coach, Jimmy Johnson, who was lucky to have earned two Super Bowls and a college championship to his name, has made it known that he has retired from Fox Sports after working for 25 years with the organization.
Jimmy Johnson revealed his retirement on The Herd With Colin Cowherd on Monday. Jimmy Johnson is now 81 years old.
The Hall of Fame coach was one of the major staff on Fox’s NFL coverage. During his time with Fox Sports, he worked with Michael Strahan, Curt Menefee, Howie Long, and Terry Bradshaw.
Johnson earlier became a part of Fox in 1994 but left after two years to manage and coach the Miami Dolphins before he went back to being part of Fox in 2002. He has decided to reduce how much he travels in recent years, working from the comfort of his home in Key West, Florida.
Johnson earned Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys during his professional career in the 1992-93 seasons and also took the Miami Dolphins to a national title in 1987.
Johnson was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020 and was finally joined to the Cowboys’ Ring of Honor two years ago despite a long-standing conflict with the team’s owner, Jerry Jones.
This retirement by Jimmy Johnson puts an end to an era for Fox Sports and NFL broadcasting.
“It has been 17 seasons of fun and laughs sitting next to you,” Strahan posted on X. “You’re truly one of a kind and thanks for being you and gifting me with one of the best friendships anyone could ever ask for. Hope you enjoy fishing and drinking beers on the boat. You deserve it, love you Coach!”
