The Dallas Mavericks have let go of guard Quentin Grimes by trading him to the Philadelphia 76ers to acquire forward Caleb Martin, including a 2025 second-round pick on his way to the Sixers.
Caleb Martin, a 29-year-old athlete has been averaging 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds since the beginning of this season, while he made it to the squad as a starter. He is currently on a $35 million which is supposed to last for four years.
Martin has proved himself as a playoff performer with an average of 9.1 points while shooting 40.1% from three of his 45 postseason matches including the the Miami Heat’s 2023 NBA Finals run.
24-year-old Quentin Grimes is posting 10.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in each game while shooting a career-best 39.8% from three. He became a player of the Mavs in a summer trade that saw Tim Hardaway Jr. join Detroit.
There has not been a successful outcome of the extension discussion between the Mavs and Grimes, with the latter hoping to sign a contract valued at $12.8 million, while Dallas made his worth closer to Naji Marshall’s three-year, $27 million deal.
The trade has given new advantages to both players to show their worth in their new teams.
