Belgian Oscar Piastri has won his sixth race this season at the Belgian Grand Prix, extending his F1 title race lead and widening the gap against rival Lando Morris.
He took the lead early, maintaining the advantage even with all the twists and turns. However, the pressure was still on. He was driving alongside the best riders in the game, so there was no time to think. He only had one shot.
“I knew Lap 1 would be my best chance of winning the race,” he said. “I got a good exit out of Turn 1, lifted as little as I dared out of Eau Rouge.
Rain fell heavily before the race, so it was delayed for about an hour and 15 minutes. However, they were still able to kick it off.
Landon Norris, who started from pole, finished in second place, about 3.41 seconds behind Piastri.
“Oscar did a better job in the beginning, and that was it. Nothing more I could do after that point. I would love to be up top, but Oscar deserved it today,” Norris said of the winner.
Although Oscar maintained his advantage for the most part, he struggled in a few laps, and Norris was hot on his heels. However, he finished first, extending his lead to 16 points on the table.
Another sight to behold was the dog-headed race between Charles Leclerc, who finished in third place, and Max Verstappen, who finished 4th.
Verstappen is very familiar with championship titles, and he was the last person to win the Belgian Grand Prix from pole.
So, Leclerc knew the strength of the competition he was trying to beat. At the end of the race, he got his sponsor, Ferrari, to the podium. Verstappen came fourth, and Mercedes driver George Russell sat in fifth place.
