The defender is becoming injury-prone because he just recovered from an ACL injury in December last two years, appearing as a substitute in La Liga games against Real Valladolid and Las Palmas.
Alaba’s injury comes after the absence of Antonio Rüdiger at the back due to a hamstring injury, which has caused a crisis in Madrid’s defense with Éder Militão also sidelined long-term.
Head Coach Carlo Ancelotti may be returning teenagers Raúl Asencio and Aurélien Tchouaméni from the midfield to the center-back in order to protect the team’s defense.
Real Madrid will need to do more and restrategize considering that they came into the season with only three senior centre-backs after the departure of Nacho Fernandez.
