Real Madrid is now in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey after beating fourth-tier Deportivo Minera with an embarrassing 5-0 on Monday.
Real Madrid took the early lead after scoring three goals in the first half from Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Guler.
The fourth goal came from Luka Modric through a fine curling shot, while the game was sealed with a second goal that came during the late minutes of the game from Arda Guler.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti did not include the team’s major players on the squad ahead of the Spanish Super Cup that will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, with two key forwards, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, appearing to feature in the game as second-half substitutes.
Real Madrid had already scored double within the first 13 minutes of the game through Valverde’s strike and a shot from Camavinga, and a deflected shot from Guler increased the lead.
An attempt was created by Brahim Diaz, but the effort hit the post in the second half before goals from Modric and Guler sealed Real Madrid’s win.
Aside from Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also qualified, while the current holder, Athletic Bilbao, needed penalties to win against third-tier Logrones.
The draw for the next match has also been scheduled for Wednesday.
