Trump Tells Trudeau Canada Should Become A State In US & He Its Governor After Sheinbaum Calls His Bluff

According to Fox News, Trump advised Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to allow the United States to take over his country and make it its 51st state with him as the governor.

The advice came up when Trudeau visited Trump in his Mar-a-Lago home after the president-elect vowed to sanction Canada and Mexico for allowing illegal migrants and illicit drugs to enter the US from their borders.

Trump said he would impose a 25% tax on all goods coming in from not only Canada, but also Mexico. Mexico is notoriously known for its complacency in not only allowing illegals to move in droves from their side over to the US, but has also been figured out as being responsible for the influx of hard drugs into the country as well.

Following Trump’s threat, Canada’s PM flew in to pay a visit to Trump to iron out the matter. According to reports based on insider reports, Trudeau said Canada’s already troubled economy might risk collapse.

Failing to put forward a detailed plan to address the issue, Trump responded that if Trudeau cannot stop the inflow of illegals into the US, as well as check the flow of goods which reportedly amounts to about $100 billion in lost revenue to the United States, then Canada should give up its sovereignty and join the US as its 51st state.

He also assured Trudeau of a political position – the governor of Canada.

On the Mexican side, President Claudia Sheinbaum had already held a telephone conversation with Trump following his threat. However, the 62-year-old who took leadership in October 2024 said she will not close her borders to the United States as it goes against her principle of respecting human rights, as well as Mexico’s stance to build bridges between government and people.

In her statement, she said she shared the strategy that her country has followed, which is that “migrants are assisted before they get to the border”.

According to the BBC, there are 10 million recorded instances of illegal migrants from Mexico at the border, though Trump puts the number at 21 million, while the US Department of Homeland Security says that as of January 2022, there were 11 million illegal migrants living in the United States.

Sheinbaum’s feedback is a sharp contrast to Trump’s report following their telephone meeting. The Republican leader on Truth Social said the Mexican head had agreed to close their southern border and stop immigration. He referred to the meeting as a “wonderful”, and “productive conversation”, and said that they also discussed strategies to stop the inflow of drugs into the United States and its consequent surge in crime rate.
