Morgan Wallen, popular for his “Cowgirls” song, could be heading to jail. A source who is familiar with the current situation disclosed that the singer is likely going to be spending time behind bars after he was arrested earlier this year in Nashville, according to a report.
Wallen’s legal team has reportedly been negotiating for a probation deal.
His team is currently doing their best to negotiate a deal, but a source familiar with the situation told the media that the country music star,, if convicted on the three counts of felony reckless engagement, could be sentenced to six years in prison.
“It’s looking bleak at this point. He’s likely to spend time behind bars,” the source disclosed.
The arrest is a follow-up of what happened in the middle of April when the singer was accused of throwing a chair off the rooftop of Eric Church’s bar, Chiefs, that almost hit a police officer below.
WKRN reported that he was arrested and taken into Nashville Metro Jail, with his bond set at $15,520. Wallen was let go after posting bail.
He was formerly given August 15 as the court date, but his lawyers succeeded in postponing the hearing until December. The source expressed that the country singer is anxious about what the outcome of the case will be despite the delay.
“Morgan is being told the best scenario is a 30- to 60-day sentence,” the insider said. “I don’t think the prosecutors want him to skate away with no time because people will think it’s because of his celebrity status.” Even still, the source says that Wallen is hoping his charges can be pleaded to misdemeanors, explaining, “If Morgan has a felony conviction, it’s going to make it hard for him to get work visas to tour internationally.”
