Country music artist Morgan Wallen found himself in legal trouble on Monday, facing three felony charges and one misdemeanor following an alleged incident at a newly-opened bar, Chief’s on Broadway, in downtown Nashville over the weekend.

According to an affidavit obtained by News Channel 5, Wallen purportedly threw a chair off the roof of the six-story establishment, landing it dangerously close to two police officers on the street below.

Witnesses and bar staff identified Wallen, 30, as the individual responsible for the chair-throwing incident, which was corroborated by security footage reviewed by law enforcement officials.

Wallen was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of reckless endangerment and one count of disorderly conduct in the early hours of Monday morning, as documented in public arrest records.

After posting a bond for $15,250, Wallen was released from Davidson County jail later that day. The Independent has sought comment from the Nashville Police Department.

A court appearance for Wallen has been scheduled for May 3, coinciding with his performances at Nissan Stadium as part of his One Night at a Time tour.

This isn’t the first time Wallen has faced controversy. In 2021, he faced criticism and was dropped by his label for using racial slurs in a video, though he later issued an apology.

Despite these challenges, Wallen has maintained considerable success in his music career.
