LeBron James Son, Bronny, Suffers Cardiac Arrest While Playing Basketball

LeBron James son, Bronny James, had a cardiac arrest while playing basketball at the University of Southern California on Monday.

According to a statement issued by a family spokesperson, the 18-year-old, who is the eldest son of LeBron James, was treated at the scene before being taken to the hospital.

The statement also said that Bronny James is in stable condition and has left the intensive care unit.

The family further requested privacy at this time and said they will give updates when due.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the statement said.

“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.

“LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes”.

Bronny James, standing at 6 foot and 3 inches and an incoming freshman for the USC Trojans had the cardiac arrest while practicing at the university.

Bronny ranked 20th on ESPN’s Top 100 2023 recruits and was rated a four-star recruit. He stood out in the McDonald’s All-American Game in March which featured some of the country’s top high school basketball players.

The California University said it was not in a position to comment out of respect for student privacy.

Last summer, Vincent Iwuchukwu, an incoming freshman USC basketball player collapsed during an informal team practice on July 1, 2022, and was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he spent several weeks recovering.
