Karl Toko Ekambi and Arnaud Kalimuendo took Rennes to a 2-0 victory over PSG at Parc des Princes.
Paris Saint-Germain is at the losing end again after being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich. The Ligue 1 leaders were defeated on Sunday, losing to 5th-placed Rennes, 2-0.
Kylian Mbappe had many chances early in the match, seeing a goal ruled out for offside, and missing a pair of other openings.
However, Rennes was quick the open the deal with Karl Toko Ekambi driving the ball into the far corner. Arnaud Kalimuendo scored the second goal, sealing the deal, both after halftime.
PSG’s manager Christophe Galtier was helpless in the situation, his switching of tactics, and shouting at players did not help.

A bit all over the place positionally early on. Settled in a bit, and held his side of the pitch down.
Midfield
Timothee Pembele (4/10):
Touched the ball 12 times, and failed to offer defensive cover. Removed at half-time.
Vitinha (5/10):
Ran a lot, but lost the most tackles in the match. Looked like he didn’t know where he really should be playing.
Marco Verratti (5/10):
Lost the ball in the build-up to the Rennes opener, and didn’t play through Rennes’ press.
Fabian Ruiz (5/10):
Offered a bit of a creative spark. Unlucky to be the first midfielder subbed.
Nundo Mendes (5/10):
Ran up and down the wing. Lacks a creative edge, and hasn’t developed the best understanding with Mbappe.

Does he care? Why should he? Messi has evolved into a player of moments, but he didn’t seem capable of any against Rennes.
Kylian Mbappe (5/10):
Got in behind with regularity. Lots of neat touches and a few speculative attempts. Rennes defended him well.

A half-time sub. Did little to turn the game around, but was tidy as ever.
