Here’s the video of the moment Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during their game with the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night.

What Happened? How did Damar Hamlin Sustain The Injury?

Damar, Bill’s defensive back, had seemingly made a routine tackle on Bengal’s receiver, Tee Higgins. Both players crashed on the field and stood up, after which Damar Hamlin collapsed, falling again on the pitch. The incident had occurred midway through the first quarter.

Emergency first aid and CPR were administered to him as he lay on the field before an ambulance took him to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for further medical treatment.

Officials had wanted both teams to continue with the match, but the players would have none of it. After taking them back to the locker room for some supposed persuasion, the game was postponed indefinitely.

According to a statement from the Buffalo Bills, which was shared on Twitter, Hamlin “is expected to remain under intensive care as his health care team continues to monitor and treat him.”

What Is The Status Of Damar Hamlin’s Health Condition?

In a tweet from Cameron Wolfe, who had been in talks with Jordon Rooney, he reported that Damar Hamlin is showing positive signs of recovery, according to the doctors. He also said that Hamlin has been resuscitated twice; once on the field and another in the hospital.

“Right now things are moving in a positive direction”.

“There’s not clarity at this point about how long it’s going to take and where things are going to go. For the family, it’s just a matter of seeing more positive signs and hopefully building on that,” Rooney said.

However, the 24-year-old will continue to be under intensive care and is 100% fully using the aid of ventilators to breathe, in order to bring his lungs back to full strength, which has currently improved up to 50%.

A statement from the Damar family read:

“On behalf of our family, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the love and support shown to Damar during this challenging time. We are deeply moved by the prayers, kind words and donations from fans around the country,” said the family’s statement, which was released via Hamlin’s agent.

“We also want to acknowledge the dedicated first responders and healthcare professionals at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center who have provided exceptional care to Damar. We feel so blessed to be part of the Buffalo Bills organization and to have their support.”

“We also want to thank coach Taylor and the Bengals for everything they’ve done.”

“Please keep Damar in your prayers.”

“We will release updates as soon as we have them.”

The NFL has informed the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals that the suspended game will not resume this week, while the Week 18 schedule remains unchanged. Also, no update has been made on a possible later date to resume the game.

The Bengals had been leading 7-3 with five minutes and 58 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

The suspended game between the Bills and Bengals has major playoff implications as the NFL enters the last week of the 2022 regular season, with the Bills (12-3) needing a win to reclaim the No 1 seed in the AFC, in the hope of getting a first-round bye and home advantage through the playoffs. The Bengals (11-4) would have gotten the AFC North division title ahead of the Baltimore Ravens (10-6) with a win.
