A woman was captured on video as she jumped off a window of the 8th floor of a 9-story building in a suicide fall.
The suicide fall happened in Mumbai in the western suburb of Kandivali when the girl, identified as 14-year-old Harshika, a student in class 5, killed herself by jumping from the high-rise building of her home, where she lived in Gardenia Cooperative Housing Society in Kandivali’s Thakur village.
The suicide video was recorded by a neighbour in an apartment opposite her building, who captured the young lady standing by an open window.
I feel so sorry for the people who witnessed the event and the loved ones she left behind through such devastating means
She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The police said they have started their investigation and will look into her footprints on social media to get a probable cause.
Suicide by jumping from a height is a common method used by many who want to kill themselves. According to Wikipedia, some structures such as the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, Eiffel Tower, and Niagara Falls are notorious spots.
It is also noted that suicide by jumping from heights does not guarantee an instant death and in many cases, leaves the surviving victim with a lifetime injury and pain.
Here is my take: suicide is never an option, and most localities have hotlines and help centers you can reach to and get quick help in case of any suicidal feelings. If there is none in your locality, please make the necessary effort to have it installed.
Please reach out to the nearest mental health hospital close to you if you have harbour such thoughts, and always remember to stay safe.
