The Yoruba Nation Rally was held yesterday at Ojota, Lagos state as earlier scheduled after protesters converged at Freedom Park.
The Yoruba Nation rally was made of protesters who wanted a sovereign Yoruba, by cessation from Nigeria.
However, the rally was violently disrupted after police fired teargas, water cannons, and live bullets to disperse the Yoruba protesters. This is coming after the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, assured journalists that their presence was to ensure the rally will not be hijacked by thugs and hoodlums and also assure peaceful protesters of their safety.
A 24-year-old woman was also shot dead during the rally.
