All hell broke loose and they are still running free after Minneapolis police officers arrested a man, identified as George Floyd, who subsequently died in their custody, in an act which people refer to as gross inhumanity.
George Floyd was arrested by the officers after a call was placed to the police, from a store he bought cigarettes from. The employee of the store reported that he purchased the items with counterfeit dollar currency.
At the time of the call, the deceased was across the road opposite the store, his car. The police came in shortly and after identifying him from the store attendants walked across to him. He was taken out of his car, handcuffed and made to sit. Later he was taken inside a police car which obscured the view of the security camera that recorded all that transpired.
Below is the footage of the event. Video credit to NBC News.
A mild scuffle could be pictured and next, he was on the ground with an officer’s knee right on his knee. The officer is identified as Chauvin. Chauvin pinned him to the ground in that manner for over 8 minutes, as he continually pleaded that he can’t breathe! Chauvin was aided by three other officers and they have all been identified and sacked, while Chauvin is further been charged for 3rd-degree murder.
An ambulance came over after George Floyd was non-responsive and only at that moment did Chauvin let go of his knee off his neck. George was rushed to the hospital and proclaimed dead.
This event sparked up a series of protests, a good number been violent with properties been vandalized, scores of people been injured, and a few deaths.
