Doctor of late Friends’ actor Matthew Perry, Dr. Salvador Plasentia, has pleaded guilty to four counts of distribution of ketamine to the actor when he was still alive, despite knowing about his addiction.
He was one of the five people the authorities arrested in connection with Matthew Perry’s death in 2023.
“Dr. Plasencia is profoundly remorseful for the treatment decisions he made while providing ketamine to Matthew Perry,” his attorney, Karen Goldstein, said.
Apart from Dr. Plasencia, the authorities arrested drug dealers Jasveen Sangha and Erik Fleming, alongside Perry’s live-in assistant Kenneth Iwamasa, who introduced ketamine to the late actor.
Phone text recovered by the police revealed Fleming describing the drugs to Iwamasa and how to inject Perry with them.
The live-in assistant has also brought Plasencia as another source. So, it was a small network of drug dealers and fraudulent doctors who did not mind the consequences of the nonchalant use of hard drugs as long as they got money.
Although Plasencia distributed ketamine, the drug dealer, Sangha, allegedly gave the batch that led to the death of the actor, so her punishment and sentencing may be significantly higher than that of the doctor.
Perry died in October 2023 after drowning in the hot tub while the police tried to investigate what would have caused him to drown.
Four of the five defendants arrested in connection with ketamine distribution and Perry’s death have pleaded guilty. However, Sangha’s plea has firmly remained ‘not guilty.’ She would be going to trial in August.
