A white teacher showed her disdain for blacks, kids not exempted, when she sang a birthday song to a 6-year-old pupil in his class, saying that he looked like and smells like a monkey and lives in the zoo.
She recorded the event herself and sang the racist birthday song to the little boy, Legend Whitaker, in the presence of his classmates, who chuckled to her lyrics, after which she made them clap.
The incident happened on Monday at Floral Avenue Elementary School in Bartow, Florida, to the child of Desarae Prathe, her mother.
His mother got enraged after the video was sent to her by the teacher herself, and reported to the school authorities. Aside from reporting the racist teacher, she noted the humiliation her child had suffered in the presence of his mates.
She revealed that the kid might go for counselling and change school because he was ashamed of himself and didn’t want to go to school (the teacher’s class in particular) anymore.
Polk County Public School authorities said they were reviewing the matter even as the parent called for the immediate dismissal of the teacher. She also said that the school’s management had not deemed it fit to contact her about the matter, and was delaying in taking action.
The mother, however, prays that the teacher first write a letter of apology to her son and family, before her dismissal because of the colossal unacceptable behaviour.
