A midshipman was shot on Thursday after a mistaken officer was in the Naval Academy lockdown.

Authorities confirmed on Thursday that law enforcement shot a midshipman in the evening after mistaking an officer for a threat while a lockdown at the Naval Academy in the United States was ongoing.
NBC News reported that the tragedy started in the evening, around 5 p.m., when the naval academy proceeded into lockdown because of threats issued by an ex-midshipman who had been fired.
Those in charge of investigating the incidents mentioned that the threat was released on social media platforms with the aid of an anonymous IP address that seems to have emanated from the campus.
Popular among the agencies that joined local law enforcement to contain the incident is the Naval Support Activity Annapolis.
